V-style

This style, where the skis form a V during the flight, was invented by the Swede Jan Boklöv in the mid 1980’s. Longer jumps were now possible in comparison to the parallel style that was used before. Boklöv was getting successful with this new technique and so more and more jumpers tried to copy him. At the beginning the judges awarded less style points for the V-style but this changed in the season 1992/93. The V-style gives the jumper a larger flying surface, and therefore more lift in his flight position.
