As part of the FIS campagne "Bring children to the snow", launched in 2007, the World Snow Day is considered a unique initiative that's celebrating winter sports as a healthy, fun and social acitivity world wide. With different activities and professional coaching at 225 events in 39 countries, young people shall be lead to the slopes, tracks and hills. Some locations will host special events on the occasion of this festival in the snow in order to present winter sports in an open and more attractive way.
Emphasizing the fun in the snow and the experience in nature, this day of action was especially invented for children between four and fourteen. "The fact that so many countries take part in this event is a great acknowledgment for our initiative. We hope that this enthusiasm will encourage children to get used to snow and we can promote a new generation of wintersport fans", said FIS president Gian Franco Kasper.
