Slavik, who was first after the jumping with a lead of 45 seconds ahead of Fletcher and remained in the lead until the third lap. Then the American broke away and was 23 seconds ahead in the finish. Nagai, who seemed to be already too far behind after the third lap, won the final sprint against Hurschler.
The competitors of the performance center in Klingenthal showed a strong performance in the race but were already behind after their jumping was not that good. Ruben Welde moved up 22nd places to 25th. His brother David surprised again and scored points as 28th. Christian Arlt followed six places behind.
Coach Uwe Schuricht: "All in all the weekend was very satisfying for us. The three athletes could not show their best performance in jumping. The race of Ruben was tactically better than yesterday. Christian is slowly getting in top shape. And for David his debut in the COC went very well. It is mentally important for him that he could score points twice."
Statements of the Top 3:
Taylor Fletcher (USA): "I'm very satisfied today. My jump was excellent, my shape in cross country is also very good. It was a great weekend for me and I'm looking forward to the great atmosphere at the World Cup here in Klingenthal."
Tomas Slavik (CZE): "My jump was very good today. I hoped that the lead was big enough. At the end Taylor was too strong in the race."
Hedaiki Nagai (JPN): "It was the most successful weekend of my career. I'm very happy. The seventh and the third place are fantastic results for me."
