Tino, at the beginning of the season it went really well for you, inspite of the sickness in summer. What do you think about the current level of your performances? What is your goals this season?
Tino Edelmann: It was clear to me from the start that my performances will not remain on this high level for the whole season. I was simply not able to train enough this summer. I'm lacking the basics and then consistent performances are not possible. In Predazzo there was already a positive trend again. I hope that now I'll be able to continue from there and, with a little bit of luck, be able to compete for the podium.
You are among the best in jumping, but you already fell a few times. Are you too good in jumping right now, are you jumping too far?
Tino Edelmann: No, for sure I'm not too good. I'm happy that I can jump far and I hope that it will stay like that for a long time. Sometimes the inrun speed maybe was too high for me. But actually it was okay all the tim and the falls were my own fault. But it's part of the sport that you have to be able to stand long jumps.
After really strong performances in summer, the German team was not that good recently. Nations like Norway and France are the best now. Can you explain the reason for that?
Tino Edelmann: I don't agree completely. Especially Bjoern and Fabian had great competitions. Also Eric is in a good shape. I had the yellow bib until Ramsau. In the middle of the season, only little things were missing most of the time. You have such phases and it's important to learn from it that it will get better next year and in two years at the main highlights. Norway is very strong this year, but it was not working so well for them at the World Championships at home in Oslo. But they did a good job in training and that pays off now - a little bit later.
You just compete in Val di Fiemme, where the next World Championships will take place. What was your impression of the venues and what are your expectations for next year?
Tino Edelmann: I'm actually very satisfied with Val di Fiemme. The hills are top. The large hill suits me well and the normal hill is relatively big. And that's nice too. The cross country course is pretty hard. But under almost perfect condiitions like this year they it's nice to race. Unfortunately there will probably not be as many spectators as in Oslo.
The new formats like the Penalty Race and the Team Sprint were now tested a few times. What do you think?
Tino Edelmann: I still think that we should get back to the older formats of sprint and individual competitions. Honestly I don't really like the Penalty Race. But the team sprint is a good alternative.
You are also supported by the DKB. How important is it for you as an athlete that you can rely on the support of such partners?
Tino Edelmann: The DKB is one of the biggest supporters of sports in Germany. I'm really happy that I'm part of the DKB-Team and I hope that I can stay a part of it for a long time.
