The champion is back
"This was a very important victory for me", Jason Lamy Chappuis said after his first win this season. In the sixth competition, the French was on top of the podium for the first time this winter after an exciting race. It was even closer than the day before, when Norwegian Jan Schmid won on the finishing straight. Lamy Chappuis had the best finish and won ahead of Magnus Krog (NOR) and Mario Stecher (AUT).

In addition to the prize money, Lamy Chappuis also got the yellow bib of the World Cup leader. He took that from Tino Edelmann, who was in the lead at the beginning of the finishing straight and came in fourth. With a jump on 95 m, Edelmann won the jumping on the normal hill. But he was only a few second ahead of Lamy Chappuis at the start of the 10 km race. In the race there was a leading group consisting of nine athletes. In the final of five laps, Magnus Krog increased the pace and broke the group. "I wanted to be first in the down-hill and I was able to achieve that with this attack", said Krog.
Tino Edelmann tried to defend his leader's bib and the top position in the race. This tactics did not work. Lamy Chappuis, Krog and local hero Mario Stecher, who won both competitions in Ramsau last year, were better than Edelmann in the end. Lamy Chappuis won his 16th World Cup competition.
"I don't even know if I'm better in jumping or in cross-country right now", the winner said after the race and already looked ahead. "I'm looking forward to starting with the yellow bib again in Seefeld." Also Mario Stecher is looking forward to the next World Cup location. "I think it's extremely important that we will have a different format there with the team sprint. That's important for our sport."
Fastest in the race was Mikko Kokslien. The Norwegian moved up from 14th to sixth. In the overall rakning Lamy Chappuis leads with 354 points, ahead of Tino Edelmann (350 points). Magnus Krog is third (275), followed by his teammate Haavard Klementsen (259 points). Magnus Krog doesn't think that he will be able to succeed in this ranking. "I probably won't win the World Cup. I don't think I can have this shape for the whole season."
